Lots of celebrities are forgoing looser beach waves for a precise and structured bend. “It’s more of a luxurious wave,” says NYC Cutler/Redken stylist Jenny Balding. “This finish is created by gently brushing through the waves with a Mason Pearson-type brush at the end.”
To maintain neat spirals, gently brush, being careful not to break the curls. Then apply a little anti-frizz serum to prevent flyaways.
If you want a more smooth and uniform wave—better for showing off a rich shade like Megan’s signature brown—use a curling iron to create a wave going in one direction, rather than alternating directions as you would to create a looser effect. After curling, mist hair with a light hairspray, and once hair is cool to the touch, gently brush, suggests Balding.
