Acne isn’t just something teenagers deal with. Many of us are still battling zits, pimples, bumps, blackheads and whiteheads despite being well over 18-years-old. So it’s no surprise that the question “how to get rid of acne” was Google’s top-searched beauty question of 2014.
The cure seems so simple: clean your face, and the pimples will go away. But not matter what you do-especially when Mother Nature visits-there’s always something stopping you from having the perfect complexion. That’s why we put together this list of ways to stop acne and prevent it from coming back. Here are a few ways to do it:
1) Use the right cleansers. Your best bet is an oil-free wash with salicylic acid. If you are lucky enough to catch a pimple in the act of ruining your face, use benzoyl peroxide for faster results. Believe or not, apricot scrubs and exfoliants with plastic microbeads are bad for your face. They can scratch your skin, and the tiny plastic beads are terrible for the environment. Instead, try sugar or rice-based scrubs.
2) Wash your face twice a day. This is the most important tip. No matter the cleanser you use, make sure you wash your face at least twice a day–once in the morning and once before bed. And be sure to remove your makeup before you go to sleep.
