et that shit go.
Sometimes you can go so far down the rabbit hole that you have no idea how the fuck you’re getting out.
People can be toxic, and relationships can be soul-sucking to a point where it’s hard to even identify what’s right and wrong anymore.
You can read every self-help book, repeat your personal mantra every morning and take every precaution on the planet when it comes to guarding your heart — but that doesn’t mean you’re safe. All it takes cute guy with a nice smile to completely screw you over.
Despite what intentions this person may or may not have had, loving them went south, real fast. Sometimes you meet a person, blink, and your whole life is turned upside down and you don’t know who you are anymore.
It’s okay. It can happen to anyone.
Love literally makes you blind. And while usually the only downfalls of that are maybe not at first realizing your boyfriend’s annoying snoring habit, sometimes they can be a lot more emotionally — and physically — dangerous.
Once the magic wears off and reality hits, you’re faced with a decision. You can either call it quits now because you’ve learned something about this person or have seen a side that you just can’t accept in your life, or you can stay and try to to work it out.
I’ve stayed, and stayed…and stayed. And I can tell you from my own experience that it has not ever gotten better. As it turns out, you can’t really change or work around the core parts of a person’s personality. Who knew right?
But I stayed because I thought that fighting for love was what I was supposed to do.
In these moments of uncertainty, the only person you can rely on is yourself. You speak your own truth. You take care of your own emotions.
